Dorchester First! is pleased to introduce another new business to the community. Brooke Harrington, owner of FirePower Solutions, has the solution to your problems…your computer and networking problems that is. This new company provides services to home users, small businesses and large corporate networks. Brooke can take care of any customer and is an authorized Dell service provider with over 10 years of experience in the field, a degree in computer science, and over 30 specialized certifications. "Computer repairs…no problem; data protection…you're covered; network configuration…plan on it," says Brooke.
Business Offers Unique Backyard Product...
Dorchester First! is pleased to announce the expansion of a local business. Sweetwater Screen Enclosures offers the first full, roof and walls, screen enclosures in the state of Maryland. President of the company, and Dorchester County resident, Brian Van Teagarden, Sr. first saw these enclosures several years ago when he and his wife took their three children on a family vacation to Disney World in Florida. They saw these screen coverings over many pools and patios and they were very interested, especially in light of the famous Eastern Shore mosquitoes. Mr. Teagarden was particularly intrigued about these structures, from his prospective as owner of Santa Fe Custom Builders.
Dorchester First! Welcomes New Business: S&K Candies - Specialty Wrappers
Dorchester First! is proud to announce another new business in Dorchester County. It’s S&K Candies – Specialty Wrappers, owned by Shantay Rowley of Vienna. According to Shantay, she can supply specially designed and personalized wrappers for a wide variety of candies and other items. “I like people to ‘think outside the box’ about items they would like to have as souvenirs for an event, or promotions for their business” says Ms. Rowley. She continued, “I have made wrappers for water bottles for Church events and picnics, chocolate bar wrappers for weddings and anniversaries, and printed goodie bags for children’s parties.
Two Years Of Success For Dorchester Business
Dorchester First! proudly announces that one of the program’s early clients, who received is celebrating his second year in business. Walter McGriff, owner of Del-Mar-Va Windows and Gutters, fulfilled his dream when he began serving area homeowners last spring. “I help homeowners protect their investment.” Mr. McGriff explained that keeping gutters clean and free of debris, prevents water from overflowing onto shrubs and sidewalks.
Local Couple Starts New Business
Debbie Donovan and Mark Robbins have had a couple of exciting events in their lives recently. Just before the Christmas season, they purchased “Scarborough Fair,” a well-known shop just over the Dorchester County border on Route 50 in Mardela Springs. A few weeks after Christmas, they became Mr. & Mrs. Mark Robbins.

Danielle Vanriel has just opened “Mirror, Mirror” Beauty Salon at 443 Race Street in Cambridge. Joy Loeffler, Technical Director for Dorchester First! explained that Danielle came to Dorchester First! in April asking for information about opening a new business. She was looking for licensing and permit information and also for assistance with a business plan and financing to help renovate the store.

The Dorchester County Council, members of the Dorchester First! Board and Dorchester First! Revolving Loan Fund Committee presented a check to the first successful loan applicant through the Dorchester First! program. Tena Cheaton, owner of “Tena’s Helping Hands,” is a local small business that is expanding.
Mobile Dog Grooming Business
Cambridge - Dorchester First! is pleased to announce another new business in the County! It is a very unique service for our furry friends….mobile dog grooming. “Grooming on the Go” owner Colleen Auletto is quick to point out the benefits. Colleen explained, “There is no driving to the shop, no cages, no waiting for your turn.” Grooming on the Go’s van is a pet spa on wheels! She added that “more importantly, it is less stressful for the pet and saves time for the owner.”

Dorchester First! technical assistant, Joy Loeffler, announces two new businesses that have just started in Dorchester County: "Jackie's House" and "KB Income Tax Service."
Two New Home Decor Businesses Come To Cambridge
It’s hard not to notice the new homes and condos that are going up all over Dorchester County. The owners of these new homes, as well as those who are looking to update the look of their home, are creating a new, growth market for local businesses. Two new shops that cater to the home decor market have just opened in Downtown Cambridge.
Port of Call Charters Opens In Cambridge
Port of Call Charters, LLC has been opened by Captains Ken and Donna Prahl of Cambridge. They are offering an opportunity for 1-6 guests to explore various ports around the Chesapeake Bay on their 2005 35 foot Carolina Classic.
Emerging New Business
Another new business opens doors in Dorchester County. Mr. Walter McGriff has fulfilled a life-long dream of owning his own business, and started “Del-Mar-Va Windows and Gutters” in Cambridge. The company offers window and gutter cleaning service as well as power washing for residential and commercial customers.
